Warehouse Workers of the Future

The Nashville Business Journal recently reported on a new warehouse system that looks like it came straight out of an episode of the Jetsons, and it looks like it may be headed to Middle Tennessee locations near us.

These Roomba-resembling orange robots are reinventing the way some of the country’s biggest retailers fill orders. Controlled by a central computer, these robots swarm around a warehouse finding inventory stored on portable storage racks. Then they bring the rack to a human work to be packed and shipped.  While they won’t say hello when they pass by , they can detect each other and prevent collisions.
