Advantages of tension fabric from Softspace(tm)

At its core tension fabric is a lightweight, inexpensive and beautiful alternative to hard panel graphics.

Obviously tension fabric is lightweight in the sense that the fabric itself is light. But what is not clear from looking at a booth constructed of tension fabric is the internal structure and outside framework. Clearly we all know fabric does not stand on its own.

When you step into a booth created with tension fabric it is important to note the countless hours of engineering that go into making a structure solid enough to hold up under the stress of taught fabric. A typical tower framework constructed to hold tension fabric panels involves aluminum extrusion and carefully placed maze of aluminum tubes. These 2 materials are joined by fasteners that can withstand thousands of pounds of pressure from all directions. In most cases you have a framework that will break down into many parts to allow for ease of packing and the cost savings in shipping over hard panel graphics. But, what you don’t have is a deficit in safety or stability.

Comparing a tension fabric booth to one fabricated with hard panels, is very similar to comparing the difference between a house built with 2x4 studs and aluminum studs – Both give a lifetime of strength and stability. The fact that the skin of either stud wall type is only drywall does not negate the solid core of the wall system. What may be said in truth is that an aluminum framed stud wall is built with a precision that a 2x4 framing can never replicate. That is what we offer with a tension fabric system – strength, durability, precision and beauty. Combine that with ease of rebranding, shipping and assembly and the return on investment is clear.

Maine Watch Returns in September with a New Look and a New Host, Jennifer Rooks

On Fridays beginning September 14, Maine Watch returns to the airwaves with a new host, Jennifer Rooks and a new look designed and fabricated by SoftSpace. See the case study for details.

Jennifer Rooks hosts the freshly reformatted show that has been a staple in Maine public affairs programming for the past 23 years.

In addition to signature studio interviews, Maine Watch with Jennifer Rooks now includes in-depth field reporting and feature stories. Our goal is to find the issues Mainers are concerned about and offer new ways of looking at those issues.

Maine Watch with Jennifer Rooks airs on MPBN Television Friday evenings at 8:30 pm, on MPBN Radio at 12:30 pm on Fridays.

emg3 wins GOLD EX Award for Walmart Diabetes Tour!

The Diabetes Aware & Care Tour was launched in the form of five 36’ Mobile Health Vehicles (MHVs) that executed hundreds of events at over 200 stores across the country. These custom built MHVs, Designed and Fabricated by SoftSpace, featured 3 indoor testing stations and 2 outdoor stations. Each event hosted scores of customers, people from the local community, and Wal-Mart associates and offered complimentary health screenings for cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure.

The program became the largest of its kind in the country with the creation of the 5 separate tours, successfully covering the entire country and providing thousands of people with important health care services that they may otherwise have been unable to afford or access.
